New bow design by bowyer Toth Zoltan

Draw weight 25-70#
Length strung 52.7"
Length of string 48.4"
Maximum draw length 30"
Brace height 7.8"

Based on as little as we know about Roman bows it is probably hard to tell how the Roman bows (if any) were constructed. What we do know for sure is Romans hired archers (sagittarii) of Scythian origin during some of their military campaigns. These archers mostly used the "Asiatic recurve-reflex energy storing bows", which mostly had stiff siyahs (tips) without string pads such as the Magyar or Sarmatian bows. So this Roman bow by Zoltán Tóth is shaped like the ones depicted on ancient Roman mosaics and statues with a tip that forms a tulip.

Toth Roman traditional composite bow

The limbs and the grips are covered with cow hide. The tips are made of ash wood with walnut inlays. Synthetic bandage. The string is made of Dacron. Note: fast flight strings (very stiff strings) are not recomennded for traditional composite bows.

This bow is quite smooth to draw, compact and durable. Ideal for novice archers and available in lower weights as well. When ordering, please indicate your desired draw weight and colors. Manufacturing takes 2-3 weeks. Contact us if you have any questions.
